Ceremonial Shield from Aulormior: Relics from Cwelythvir

Ceremonial Use:

The Royal Aulormior Guard have maintained a tradition of practicality and prestige throughout the period from their inception to the present day. These qualities are reflected in the design of their armor and weaponry.

The above shield is decorated with four rubies, which are the national gemstone of the Empire of Aulormior. In the center of the artifact lies a gold plating, placed in the center for purposes of structural integrity as well as aesthetics. Such facets of the shield above represent the more luxurious aspects of the Royal Aulormior Guard. To understand their more pragmatic nature one has to look more closely. The wood of which the shield is made comes from the northern wilds of the nation. Nearly every shield in Aulormior is made of this wood due to its stength and flexibility. Metal rusts and shatter, while this material weathers the environment in a much more robust way. It is for this reason that the shield is made of such a substance. The choice represents the brotherhood of the legions that make up the nation, since almost every shield is made of this wood. In addition, the choice represents the sense of reason of the Royal Aulormior Guard. They are not wrapped up in luxury and convenience that they have weakened themselves to the blows of their adversaries.
