Overview:
The realm of Elysium is oft thought of by the peoples of Cwelythvir as an afterlife of sorts. Although it is true that the souls of the perished often wander through to this land, such a chthonian nature did not seem to be its original purpose.
As with the world of Cwelythvir and the countless other dimensions that lie adjacent to it, Elysium was created from the primal will of the Archaic Divinities. Though it is similar in the natural laws to Cwelythvir, its geography is vastly different. Throughout its flat expanse lies groves of fruit trees, plains of grain, and shallow streams and brooks that wind this way and that.
The rulers of this world appear to be the likes of the gods of light, nature, and tranquility. Such deities include Pax, Demeter, and Apollo.
Afterlife:
According to what deities, spirits, or forces one worshipped in life, one upon their death could find themselves upon this verdant plain. Another factor that must be taken into account is their particular wishes for their eternal spirit after they have passed. If one wishes to fade into nothingness or experience a different realm for their eternal life, it is not easy or necessarily possible to force the soul into Elysium.
Or, to think of it another way, the power that the deceased person held in worship represent the mechanism by which a soul can enter an afterlife. The one who has passed is still able to determine where their destination lies. However, this is not to say that one necessarily needs a faith to enter Elysium. Good deeds, virtues, and other elements of a kind soul can be factors through which this dimension can “call” one’s soul.
