The Fox and the Grapes (Vulpes et Uva):
Famē coāctā vulpēs altā in vīneā ūvam adpetēbat, summīs saliēns vīribus,
Driven by hunger, a fox was reaching for a bunch of grapes high on a vine, jumping with all her strength.
quam tangere ut nōn potuit, discēdēns ait ‘Nōndum mātūra es ; nōlō acerbam sūmere’.
When she could not touch them, she said leaving, “You are not yet ripe. I do not wish to take them sour.”
Quī, facere quae nōn possunt, verbīs ēlevant, adscrībere hoc dēbēbunt exemplum sibī.
Those who attempt to do that which they cannot, raising disparaging words in turn, should ascribe this example to themselves.
