History of Cwelythvir: Capitulum II- The Empyrean Apostates

After the Ruin of War:

After the imprisonment of the Archaic Divinities, the Deities decided to bring to life what would later be known as the Empyrean Apostates. The reason for this name would come to light in the ages following this event, so for the novice historian they are better known by their common appellations: Dragons, Giants, Krakens, Phoenixes, and Demons. There are many more, but they are fewer in number and therefore rarer.

In addition to these immortal beings, the Deities created various other flora and fauna to fill the world. Some are like the creatures of today, others completely alien. To guard over such life the Deities gifted the Empyrean Apostates with previously mentioned immortality. For hundreds of thousands of years these beings created vast empires over the world and made large cities. Such splendor soon fell to greed.

Hungry for power and with firey enmity, the Empyrean Apostates turned on each other. Once more strife engulfed Cwelythvir. The Deities chose to imprison the Empyrean Apostates like the Archaic Divinities before them. However, this task proved to be more difficult than it first seemed. Drawing upon the power of the chains that held the Archaic Divinities in place, some of the Empyrean Apostates were able to far surpass the Deities in power. Instead of soley fighting a war with their progeny, the gods had to reform the chains that held their creators. This act of division helped the Empyrean Apostates slay many of the Deities.

Eventually, a ritual was undertaken by the gods to banish the Empyrean Apostates. Unlike the earlier banishment of the Archaic Divinities, this imprisonment held temporal constraints. After 500 centuries, the Empyrean Apostates would be released into the world.

Though some were able to escape, most of these immortal entities fell to the enchantment, and were imprisoned.

After this devastating event, the gods sent many dooms to the world to clear it of life. A rain of fire ravaged the land, and seas boiled with divine flame. Many of the creatures and flora that had survived the war with the Empyrean Apostates perished in this calamitous event. Now the land held a dreadful atmosphere, and gloom spread to all of its corners. In a final attempt to bring forth the good the Deities knew could spring from the land, they made the most recent form of life in the realm: mortals.
