Appearance:
Sphikans appear as giant wasps or hornets. Like centaurs, they walk on four legs, leaving their remaining two to manipulate objects or to otherwise use as hands. Their frightning countenance has often earned them an undeserved reputation of being beastly or barbarous. In fact, nothing could be further from the truth. Sphikans are intelligent, both emotionally and intellectually, and their records contain some of the most detailed poetry and literature in the known world.
In the far south of the world, some sphikan groups have developed green, brown, and black coloration markings on their bodies. However, in the arid climes they have retained the same yellow and black displays as wasps.
History:
The sphikans were created at the same time as the other mortal lineages, adn since their birth have chosen to inhabit the deserts and jungles of the world. In the desert, they are much more reserved and wary of outsiders. They build great hives of mud there, and have a sophisticated society centered around their matriarch. In the jungles, they live much more solitarily. Sphikans in these environments live in clans led by a chieftan, who can be of any gender.
