The Language of Aulormior: Languages of Cwelythvir

History:

The language family of Aulormior began to split off from the general Boreal Roar Language Family nearly 3,000 years ago, and since that time it has remained relatively static. This inertia has provided us academics of the would of Cwelythvir with valuable knowledge about the Boral Roar, and its hypothetical properties.

Though its original urheimat was far in the northern tundras, slowly over the course of centuries the range of speaking for Aulormior has shifted steadily downwards. Today, the language family is the most widely spoken in the world, as far as we know. We can find its influence in the mountains of the west, the nation that borders the Ports of the Delta in the southeast, and indeed in its original homeland. However, as mentioned, that area lies south of the tundras. Specifically, in the Vale of Legionnaires.

Use:

Given the prestige of the Empire of Aulormior in days past, the language of Aulormior has gained a reputation for a tongue of learning and law. Sages and scholars go out of their way to learn Aulormior for the numerous chronicles and treatises that exist in that language. In addition, the vulgar dialects have found a way into the jargon of common trade. No merchant worth their salt is unable to speak at least one of the low tongues of Aulormior. In addition, due to the far reach of the Empire of Aulormior, countless creoles and pidgins have sprung in those areas that in ancient days bordered that realm. Some survive today, but others remain forgotten save but a few slips of aged parchment.
